Summary

Onco-cardiology is a new and still developing discipline in medicine, aiming to optimize the efficiency of the anticancer treatments and minimalize the cardiovascular complications in the term of a multidisciplinary approach. The individual, risk stratification- and the tight collaboration-based therapy has an outstanding role in every phase in the treatment of oncological patients. It is one of the most principal keystones of an effective anticancer treatment, a long-time survival and a better quality of life. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) published the first guideline on the field of cardio-oncology in 2022, aiming to mediate new aspects for the clinicians and the multidisciplinary team. Its main topic is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular complications during and after anti-cancer therapy. It has important novelties, influencing our daily practice. The goal of this publication is to give an overview of this new guideline.
