Summary

The incidence of peripheral artery disease (PAD) increases with the development of diagnostic methods and the increased incidence of diabetes. PAD is a form of athero-sclerosis where seconder prevention has to be used as in the case of cardiovascular diseases. This review describes the recommendations in seconder prevention of life style changes and of the necessary medical therapy.
