Summary

The number of catheter ablations performed in a total of 11 Hungarian centers, including those performed due to atrial fibrillation, showed a continuous increase until last year. Although the most commonly used method of pulmonary vein isolation is still the point-by-point radiofrequency ablation, the number of cryoballon interventions showed a continuous increase as well. The rate of ablations in relation to the population in total and due to atrial fibrillation seem to be favorable in Hungary compared to the Central/Eastern European region or to all the ESC member countries. The last year erupted pandemic resulted in a significant decline in the number of catheter ablations in Hungary.
