Summary
Heart failure patient carriers are influenced by psychological and social background at many points. Interference of these factors and the somatic illness affects patient adherence to therapy and thus quality of life and outcome of the disease. However, these factors are often difficult to evaluate and influence. Multidisciplinary teamwork approach in heart failure management may help to overcome these issues. In this review we aim to collect evidence on how social and psychological factors may influence patient adherence in heart failure and after heart transplantation.
