Summary
With special interest to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Echocardiographic work up of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction is demonstrated on the basis of three different reports. The diagnosis based on the verification of diastolic dysfunction. In routine clinical practice left atrial dilation (left atrial volume >34 ml/m2), E/e’ >15 and tricuspid regurgitation velocity >2.8 m/s prove functional deterioration. If strain imaging accessible, GLS and left atrial strain further refine the diagnosis.
