Summary
Appropriate venous access is critical for a successful cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) insertion. We present the case of an old patients suffering from binodal disease. During the pacemaker implantation procedure we performed a successful venoplasty of the subtotal occlusion of the subclavian vein. Based on the presented case and the data available in the literature, venoplasty performed during CIED implantation/upgrade appears to be a safe and effective procedure, which technique is also recognized by current expert recommendations.
